7 Month Break… Embracing Change

Hello,

It has been a WHILE since my last post. The past 7 months have been filled with much change, heart break and growth. I will not go into details right now but while they have been some of the hardest they have also been some of the most rewarding. I know that I have some of the best friends and family in the world and I am lucky enough to have them all over the world!

Traveling has become a bigger part of my life and I need to see everything I can because it is a big world out there! A favourite quotes of mine is “If we were meant to stay in one place, we’d have roots instead of feet”. I have lots of posts still to write from the last 6 months. I have been able to see a couple of new places. Hands down my favourite was Iceland. The Northern Lights have been on the top of my bucket list for YEARS. I can definitely say it was one of my best experiences! I booked to go back less than 24 hours after getting home!

One of the other biggest changes for me has been exercise and weight lifting. I have incorporated it into my daily life and the rewards have been huge. Not only weight loss (I reached my goal) but also the feeling of being strong both in mind and body!

So while there are days that I feel like this:

I know that I have a lot to look forward to. Here are a few pictures from my Chicago trip which was “such fun” (anyone watch Miranda). Stay tuned for more!

Easy Bronze Summer Skin…By Terry

As the weather heats up we all want that summer bronze look for our skin. Well look no further! I have found two products by By Terry that I think you are going to love. I certainly do.

The first up is the Cellularose Brightening CC Lumi-Serum in Sunny Flash. Now, they make this in 4 different colours but I like Sunny Flash because it give the skin a nice bronze look. You only need one pump for your whole face so a little goes a long way. This serum is designed to give the skin a radiance boost while also hydrating the skin. It also helps even out the skin (redness and dark spots) and blur imperfections. This would be great to wear alone on beach days or where you want the no makeup makeup look. I can’t wait to try out some of the other shades.

Second up is Tea to Tan Tropical Break, a liquid misting bronzer that adds the perfect matte or shimmery glow to the skin. I spay this bronzer onto a fluffy brush and then sweep it on my face where I want it. What is nice is that it can be used on the face and the body. It contains red and black teas to help detoxify the skin and also give it a dose of antioxidants. Native water of organic cherry is also in it to revitalize the skin. Lastly, it has correcting micro-prisms and coloured powders to give the bronze look. On top of all that it smells great! This product can be sprayed directly on a brush to give a matte look or its can be shaken before being sprayed to give a shimmery look. The other nice thing about this product is that it is water/smudge proof!

I am looking forward to trying other By Terry products. I have had a product disappointed yet! Are there any you recommend?

This website has 20% off and carries By Terry Products!

Joules Quilted Navy Jacket

An oldie but a goodie for me – my Joules quilted jacket!

I got this jacket a few years ago (I believe as a Christmas gift) and still reach for it constantly when it is cold out. It is such a classic style that is great for casual everyday where. Also, mine has worn really well over the years that I have had it. I grabbed for it when I was taking Boss out for a quick walk the other day.

Jacket // Jeans // Shirt – similar, similar

I guess since I was on the British theme with my outfit it makes sense I paired my jacket with my green Hunter wellies and my Radley umbrella (another Christmas gift)! Back when I was little and living in England we would go to the New Forest a lot. I would always wear wellies so that I could walk through the streams, mud and puddles! It was always great fun! Another great jacket by a British brand and one of my other favourites is this one! It has great hand warmer pockets!

Boots (They have LOTS of colours)

Umbrella – now on sale!

This is one of my favourite streets in Athens! I love the wonky cobbled pavements as well as the redish brick. All the houses on this street are beautiful – they have so much character and I enjoy looking at them as I drive/walk past! Years ago, when Boss was a puppy, I would walk him down this road. As soon as we got near the main road, at the end, he would stop dead in his tracks and just sit down! He would not move. I then had to scoop him up and carry him home!

I hope you all have a nice weekend!

For some reason I have been eyeing up trainers (or sneakers if you are in America) lately! I think it is because they are so comfortable and easy to wear. Here are a few I have been looking at. These and these are my favourite! I have these (womens) in black and have worn them non-stop.

Designer Mini Bags!!

Today I am coming at you with an informative post about 3 of my (designer) mini bags! Mini bags have been very popular over the last few years and it is easy to understand why. They are easy and lightweight to carry around and you do not end up bringing the kitchen sink with you. Now don’t get me wrong – every now and then I love a big bag you can just throw everything into and not worry about space. Mini bags can sometimes be like Tetris. Every item must be put in and placed a certain way.

Today I wanted to talk about 3 mini bags that I have in my collection. I wanted to give you my thoughts on each. What I think their pros and cons are.

Drew // Gucci // Chanel

First up…The Chloe Drew bag in the size mini.

This is a very small bag so you really have to be ruthless when choosing what to take with you. I love the colour of this bag and think the gold hardware complements it perfectly. Some may say that the chain can get uncomfortable but I have not found that. I think that because you cannot fit a lot in there it keeps the chain from digging in like it would if the bag was a bit bigger.

I like the chain length on this bag. It is perfect to wear cross body and/or on the shoulder. The clasp has 3 parts (for lack of a better word for it) to it. It is magnetic with a twist lock that further locks with a little pin. I have heard some people talk about the hardware scratching. I have not yet had that happen to my bag but I think it is somewhat inevitable over time. Also, I sometimes find that the clasp can be a little fiddley, especially if I am in a hurry.

I love wearing this bag in the spring and summer because I find that the chain gives it that summer festival vibe (sort of what Chloe is known for) and the light colour is perfect for the warmer months. I have not experienced and colour transfer (knock on wood) but it is something I am weary about. For me the pros far outweigh the (very few) cons and I enjoy using this little bag.

Second up is the Gucci Soho Disco Bag.

I love the shape and size of this bag! It is a small bag that surprisingly carries quite a lot of stuff. What initially attracted me to this bag was the simplicity of it and the adjustable strap length. You can adjust this bag depending on where you want it and your height. I have it on the longest strap and it makes it the perfect length for wearing it cross body. It is so comfortable and easy to wear that you almost forget you are wearing a bag.

When I said I loved the simplicity of this bag, I think partly what lends its self to this is the logo. I like that it is just stiches on the bag. It is not too in your face. Also, the tassel on the bag is great (if you like tassels) because it makes the bag that bit easier to open. It also adds a nice extra feature to the bag while still keeping it classic.

Lastly, this bag retails for under $1000 (and comes in lots of colours). It is still a crazy amount for a bag but when it comes to designer bags that is a great price point.

Lastly, the Chanel Square mini in Caviar leather with silver Hardware.

To me the only downside of this bag is the price. Chanel prices are outrageous and constantly increasing. The plus side to this is if you pick a classic piece and look after it you should be able to get your money back and more if you ever want to sell it.

I love the caviar leather on this piece as well as the simple turn piece clasp. It is all just so elegant to me. This bag is so easily dressed up and down. I love that it can be worn for a Sunday brunch or an evening event.

As I mentioned with the Drew bag; you do have to be very selective with what you carry because the bag is so small.

The chain length of this bag is good. It could be a tad bit longer if you (are tall and) like to wear the bag cross body. You can definitely wear this bag cross body it just hits a little bit higher – some people may like that, others may not.

The Chanel mini is one of my favourite bags. It is classic that you cannot go wrong with!

Please let me know if you have any questions on these bags. I would be happy to answer them.

A Graduation Gift from JORD Watches

So, Summer is finally on its way here and that means that graduation season is approaching. Now it has been a little while since I graduated (hard to believe I know!), but this summer my sister will be graduating from University in the U.K. I was on the hunt for the perfect graduation gift for her when I heard from JORD watches; they contacted me and wanted to send me one of their wood watches. Right away I was intrigued and looking at what different styles, and options they offered!

I chose the Fieldcrest in dark sandalwood – so classy!

I don’t tend to wear a whole lot of jewellery. However, for the pieces I do wear I like them to be simple, classic and unique. This JORD watch fits the bill in every sense! I especially love how well made, yet lightweight it is, as well as the slight masculine feel it has.

Let me put into context why this is the perfect graduation gift for my sister – it’s made of wood. My sister is finishing her three year degree (the standard length for those studying in the UK) in Animal Biology and Conservation. She loves being outdoors, nature and animals, what better than a watch that is made out of wood to remind her of our connection to the planet? On top of all that it can be engraved to make it that bit more personal! Honestly, what more could you want?!

JORD also knocks it out of the park with the packaging! It comes in a beautiful box that makes a great first impression when it is being unwrapped! You can’t go wrong with a watch as a gift, especially for a graduate who will be entering the working world, and a wooden one is just that bit more unique.

Watch

JORD was very generous and are giving away a $100 e-gift card to one of my readers! You can enter the contest here. What’s more is they are also giving away a $50 e-gift card to anymore who enters, to go towards your very own JORD watch (contest closes 5/14). You do not want to miss this deal, especially with so many different styles and colours to choose from. Be sure to check them out ASAP!!

*Many thanks to JORD watches for sending me the gorgeous watch*

Zara Dress and Camel Coat

Hello and Happy Monday,

You can never go wrong with a Camel Coat and it should be a classic pieces in your wardrobe. Let me show you how I styled mine.

But first – I hope you all had a nice Easter weekend! I spent it with my husband, in-laws and grandparent in-laws (is that a thing – i’m not sure of the proper name) so it was very relaxing. We had a big family lunch at Clarke’s Standard which is a new restaurant in downtown Athens (post coming soon) and then a home cooked lunch on Sunday! All very delicious.

I wanted to share with you a dress I picked up for a steal when I was in London. It was £12.99! We were up in London, on our way to dinner one evening and browsing some of the shops, when I found it. I paired the dress with a classic camel coat that has a fun pop of red to it, my OTK black boots and a toiletry bag that I use as a clutch.

Coat – 50% off! // Dress – I looked all over for the dress with no luck (similar, similar, similar) // Boots // Clutch – I have the medium size// Necklace (similar, similar)

Since I bought the coat in one size up I can also fit a blazer underneath. Therefore, I wore my tuxedo blazer that I got for a bargain here! I like that the blazer gives me the option to cover my shoulders even after taking my coat off. Especially, because this dress just has thin spaghetti straps.

Blazer // Silver Bracelet // Gold Bracelets

I hope you all have a great week!

All Saints Leather Jacket & Phantom Bag

Happy Friday!

Jeans // Bag (similar – love this colour, similar) // Flats // Necklace // Sunglasses // T-shirt // All Saints Leather Jacket

Photos by Laura Turner

This All Saints leather jacket was a Christmas present from my husband which I love because it is such a classic piece. The leather is so soft on it that it already feels worn in.  All Saints and leather jackets are synonymous with each other and I can understand why! I love pairing a leather biker jacket with a classic white t-shirt and jeans. I added these black flats because I thought the spikes gave something a little bit extra to the outfit. Finally, I added a pop of colour (but still tried to stay somewhat neutral) with this Phantom bag. This bag was a purchase a while back (I bought it preloved after selling a Fendi 2jours bag – find out more here) and I enjoy that it is one of those bags you can just thrown stuff into. It also holds a lot!

What do you guys have planned for the weekend?

Lots of Love,

Buffy

Walking into the weekend like….

Wish List – Bags and More Bags

Wish List - Bags

Peek-a-Boo // Speedy // Alma bb

Double Flap // Tote

Keepall // Boy // Backpack

It has been a while since I did a ‘Wish list’ and I do not think I have ever done one specifically for bags! Here are just a few bags I have my eye on. The Boy Bag and Double Flap (M/Lg) are 2 classic bags that I do not think you can go wrong with. The keepall I think would be great for short get aways or even as a carry on bag. However, I can’t decide on what size would be the best. What size do you think is best? This backpack looks great for everyday use and I love all the pockets on it. I just became away of this Chanel tote and think it would make a great everyday bag – something you can just throw everything into and go.

What bags do you have your eye on?

Lots of Love,
