The Ivy London

I first heard about the restaurant ‘The Ivy’ 12 or 13 years ago and since it has been on my radar as a place I would like to try. After we got back from Amsterdam my sister and I were set to take a Gin making class in London (‘Buffington’s was to be my creation!). However, I had multiple problems when trying to book the class. First, the payment system, then whether I would even get the ticket on time (I couldn’t just pick it up) and then whether or not we would even be able to catch the last train home! It was obviously not in the stars! My mum then suggested we all go up to town for dinner instead.
The first restaurant that popped into my head was naturally the Ivy! I managed to get a last booking and put it on the calendar! Since I was free that day I decided that I would go up a little early and have a wonder around the shops. We would then we would all meet later at the restaurant.  I made my way up and my first stop was Harrods, obviously. I love to look around Harrods, not just for their beautiful pieces but simply to people watch. The species of human that walk around are astonishing.  After hitting a few more of the shops I finally made my way to The Ivy.
Who can resist a good Bathroom selfie??

The Ivy has been around since 1917 and is in the West End, by many of the theaters. It recently went through a renovation but still has the art deco feel! I love the coloured glass and that it just has an old timer’s classic feel to it (they take your coat and pull out your chair for you!). We were sat right away and made our way thoroughly through the menu. After a round of drinks (good ol’ Gin n’ Tonics) we put in our order.

We started with the Giant Tiger Prawns for an appetizer. From there it was onto Crab Macaroni, courgette, ricotta & pea Risotto, double pork sausages (bangers and mash) for everyone and a cheeky second drink (dirty vodka martini).

Now, no matter how much you eat, there is always room for dessert! My sister always says regular food goes to your stomach but dessert goes to the heart, not what our dietician mother wants to hear!

For dessert we got an array of things: Chocolate pudding soufflé (my favourite!), sticky toffee pudding and Bramley apple crumble pie.

With full bellies we strolled slowly back to Waterloo to catch the next train home.

White Dress // Body Oil // White Bag // Suede Booties // Black Strappy Pumps // Earrings // Candle // Pillows // Black Strappy Heels

You know I love a bit of Online Window Shopping….well here is my latest. Back around Christmas I tried on this white dress in a blue and white version and loved it. However, I could not justify the price – now I see they have it in a plain white version and they are both on sale! I discovered this body oil when I was looking up the Diptyque body creme that I had a sample of. The body creme has such an amazing smell that I can’t wait to try the body oil when I see it in store. I love Boots and think these are amazing – I’m not one who wears a lot of silver but I do love the buckles on these boots. How can you not like these strappy pumps or these strappy heals?? They are so edgy – I love them! Definitely something to save up for or try and find a dupe for! I thought these earrings were very simple but still had a “wow” factor. I love Eucalyptus and also want to see how this candle smells when I’m next in a department store in Atlanta – that and the Biaes room spray. I love the Biaes candle and would be interested to see how they compare. Of course there is another bag in there – one that is simple and chic and would go with errything! Lastly, I thought these outdoor pillows were fun. A great colour and pattern! Looking at the picture I realize there is a definite colour theme doing on this time – white, back, and gold/yellow!

Valentine’s Day Picks

Valentine Picks

Candle // Pouch // Pumps // Body Creme

Scarf // Purse // Tray // Earrings

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and here are a few Valentine’s Day Picks I found that would make great gifts (or to treat yourself) for all different budgets. I love the smell of roses and Jo Malone makes nice luxurious body crèmes that feel great on the skin. Diptyque candles have great throw and will leave the entire room smelling like fragrant and this Roses one is no exception! Who wouldn’t love a great pair of red pumps with red soles to match! They would be great for a date night. This pouch would be great for makeup or to keep bits n’ bobs in your purse, especially this purse, and the quote is cute! I have these earrings in the clear crystal and love wearing them day and night. They have a lot of colours to choose from as well. Wouldn’t this tray would be a great place to put your jewelry when taking it off for bed. They make ones with all the different letters in the alphabet so it is a bit more personal. Lastly, scarfs always add a nice finishing touch to an outfit and this one comes in a pretty light pink color – great for Valentine’s Day and as we move into Spring.

What Valentine’s Day gifts do you have in mind?

Online Window Shopping – Basics

Online Shopping Basics LBD (Left & Right) // Trench (Top & Bottom) // Toggle Coat (Top & Bottom) // Sweater

Nude Pump // Hat (Top & Bottom) // Sunglasses // Bag // Black Pump

I have been online window shopping again…this time it is Online Window Shopping – Basics! I think it is definitely worth investing in great basic pieces that will last wear after wear. Investing in these pieces is worthwhile because they will not only last season after season but never go out of style but can be easily spruced up with some lower priced trendy items.

As it is cold out side right now I will start with a coat. You can never go wrong with a classic trench coat! I also really like Duffle/Toggle coats like Paddington Bear wears. Finding one with a big hood is a must because it will keep you really warm! A classic nude (or black) pump is another fantastic piece that will go with anything and is something every lady should have in her wardrobe. A nice sweater will keep you warm and toasty in the winter and can also be worn with a plethora of items – jeans, skirts, dress trousers…you name it!

Next up is a large brim fedora. Now I realize this may not be everyone’s cup of tea but I don’t think you can go wrong with such a classic hat (I also LOVE hats). It is also a plus that it keeps your head warm and your hair somewhat out of your face on cold and windy days. We can’t talk about classics and not mention the little black dress! I am loving this one and this one! For accessorizes, I think a great pair of sunglasses is a must; be sure to find something that fits and works with your face shape. There are so many images available online that show what shape and style suits what face shape. A favourite of mine is the Ray ban Wayfarer.

I am going to finish off with a bag (another favourite of mine)! I picked a piece I currently have and love using, a Mulberry Bayswater. This is an amazing bag that fits in the crook of your arm and can hold an amazing amount that make it easy to transition from office to day off.

When I look to invest in pieces, see the price tag and flinch I try to calculate cost per wear. If it is something I am going to wear over and over again the cost per wear goes way down – at least that is my justification! Haha!

What are some of your key pieces that you think every wardrobe should have?

Candle // Dress // Shoes // Fragrance

Foundation // Trays // Card Case // Purse

I have been online window shopping again…Here are just a few things I stumbled across as I was looking at the Boxing Day sales online. I love Diptyque Candles! I think this Eucalyptus one would be a nice one since I find Eucalyptus to be really calming. I love this dress! The colour and the back! I think these shoes are super edgy and would really spice up an outfit. I read in Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty (a Christmas present from a friend) that he once said he “wants people to be afraid of the women [he] dresses” and that “there is a certain hardness to the clothes that makes [women] look powerful.” I definitely think this is true about these shoes. They are also on sale! I have this fragrance in the solid form and was just eyeing up the bottle to see what I think. The ’34’ solid is one of my favourites (post here).

This (newish) Laura Mercier  is one that I have had my eye on lately and also been reading about. I can’t wait to try it. I think these trays would look great on a side table in a living room. Their website has a bunch of pictures of how people have styled them. This card case would be great for not only credit cards and bills but also business cards. It is very classic and would not go out of style. I love this purse and think the size and style is great! So simple but with a little something extra with the chain and closure.

Have you guys found any great Boxing day sales?

RingSkirtBootsDressBanglesJumperCandle

There have been so many friends and family sales this week so I have been doing a lot of online window shopping! Here are a few things that caught my eye. I love Diptyque candles and think this one would be great for Autumn. It has a unique woodsy scent that is both masculine and feminine (I love their 34 solid perfume which is also woodsy and androgynous). I have had my eye on this ring for a while. I love it! It is a Herkimer diamond and I think it is so different. The designer also makes one with a Tourmaline crystal, which is also stunning. I can’t decide which one I like more. If you are into crystals any you would love this piece and many of her others. These boots looks so comfy and timeless. I love the zip up the back. They would look great with both jeans and skirts. I love stripes and think this dress would be great for not only summer but also Autumn. Just add a wide brim fedora, tights and some boots! This jumper also would be great for the cooler months and I love the stars on it! I have a couple of piece of Julie Vos jewelry and think these bangles would be great pieces to add to my collection. I think the detail is beautiful on them. Lastly, I like the print on this skirt and think the matching top would be fun to pair with it but also a simple black tee.

Did you guys find any good sales this week?
