Friday night we had tickets to Garth Brooks! Exciting Stuff! Since we were heading to the 10:30pm show, my husband and I decided we would head up to Atlanta early and have dinner before.
We went with a group of Friends and one of them recommended the Kimball House in Decauter. This was such a cool building, that was once a railway station, and has now been turned into a restaurant. They apparently tried to salvage as much as possible from the old building and this is obvious in the decor – just check out the fans that are all linked to each other!
The restaurant was not very big but it definitely had a lot of character. I loved the ladder at the bar!
We started off at the bar – we took a look at the menu and all ordered some drinks. We were not there but a few minutes before they took us to our table! It was not a long wait at all considering they do not take reservations.
Their cocktail menu was pretty impressive! I started off with the Scurvy Dodger and have to say I think it was my favourite drink of the night! My friend started off with the New Tokyo and it was also very good! I loved that instead of pieces of ice it had one huge block!
The table then ordered some starters – the first was a dozen oysters. The server reccommeneded the Marin Miyagi and Island Creek and everyone said they were some of the best they had ever had (the server did inform us that they were flown in first thing that morning!). I am not an oyster fan so I will take their word for it.
Oysters were followed by Onion Rings (some of the best tempura I have had), Lettuce Wraps and Whipped Lardo – all very good!
More drinks were ordered…I had a Pimms Cup…again very tasty!
My friend and I shared the Black Cod and the Chicken Roulade (I forgot to take pictures) and the guys had steak.
We finished off our meals and then headed to the concert!
My favourite part of the restaurant was definitely the ambience and drinks (don’t get me wrong the food was great I just think they other two knocked it out of the park).
I would love to try this place again as the menu changes daily!
Garth Brooks didn’t end up starting till 11:30 but it was a great show. His wife, Trisha Yearwood, also came out and sang a couple of her songs
We did not get done until 2:30 am! I have never seen that part of Atlanta so packed with people – even after all the other shows we have been to there!
All in all it was a great night with great company!
