Online Window Shopping…

Candle // Dress // Shoes // Fragrance

Foundation // Trays // Card Case // Purse

I have been online window shopping again…Here are just a few things I stumbled across as I was looking at the Boxing Day sales online. I love Diptyque Candles! I think this Eucalyptus one would be a nice one since I find Eucalyptus to be really calming. I love this dress! The colour and the back! I think these shoes are super edgy and would really spice up an outfit. I read in Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty (a Christmas present from a friend) that he once said he “wants people to be afraid of the women [he] dresses” and that “there is a certain hardness to the clothes that makes [women] look powerful.” I definitely think this is true about these shoes. They are also on sale! I have this fragrance in the solid form and was just eyeing up the bottle to see what I think. The ’34’ solid is one of my favourites (post here).

This (newish) Laura Mercier  is one that I have had my eye on lately and also been reading about. I can’t wait to try it. I think these trays would look great on a side table in a living room. Their website has a bunch of pictures of how people have styled them. This card case would be great for not only credit cards and bills but also business cards. It is very classic and would not go out of style. I love this purse and think the size and style is great! So simple but with a little something extra with the chain and closure.

Have you guys found any great Boxing day sales?

The Last Resort

We went to dinner with some friends the other night and decided to head to The Last Resort. Last Resort does one of my favourite lunches (see post here) but I hadn’t been to dinner there in a while! It was great! My husband and I had great company, wine and food!

We started with a bottle of Ghost Hill Pinot Noir Blanc to have with our starters – Fried green tomatoes and crab cakes.

Sorry about the grainy picture!

This was followed by red wine with our dinner. This was the Arbis Ros. I had a steak so this paired nicely!

Blue Smokey Eyeshadow Look

Continuing on from the blue trend (blue eyeliner post here) I decided I wanted to do a blue smokey eyeshadow look. Here it is. See below for more details on the look.

Close up3

Second close up

I started this look with the Yves Saint Laurent Touché Eclat foundation. I then used Estée Lauder’s Stay-in-place concealer for under the eyes and MAC’s Studio Fix Powder to set everything.

I love MAC’s Studio Fix powder because it helps give a flawless finish.

For the cheeks I used Benefit’s Rockateur blush, Benefits’s Hoola bronzer for a contour and Estée Lauder’s Heat Wave Illuminating Powder Gelée (limited edition and BEAUTIFUL) for a highlighter.

For brows I used Lancôme’s brow pencil in Sable

Brow pencilNow for the eyes:

I started by using Estée Lauder’s Double Wear eyeliner in Midnight Blue. I covered my eyelid with this pencil (it does not have to be tidy). I then used a MAC 217 brush to smudge out the pencil and give it a more even coverage over the lid. This pencil adds a base to apply the shadow to making it last longer and intensify the color of the shadow.

The Clinique eyeliner pencil is used for the waterline and is Intense Ebony.

After the eyeliner is applied I added the shadow. Using a Sephora PRO Allover Shadow Brush I patted MAC’s Deep truth Shadow all over my lid. I then blended any harsh lines with a clean MAC 217 brush. One I got the intensity I wanted I applied Makeup Geek Mermaid eyeshadow in the inner corner of my eye. I used a MAC 219 brush for this. This just helped brighten the inner corner. From there I used MAC’s Cork eyeshadow just above the crease of my eye. This helped blend the blue out so it was not so harsh.

Using a Sigma E20 I also applied some of MAC’s Deep Truth below my bottom lashes to help give it a more smokey look.

Lastly for the sparkle I patted on Stila’s Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eyeshadow in Metallic Dusty Rose.

The Last step for the eyes was adding Lancôme’s Cils booster followed by Estee Lauder’s Sumptuous Extreme Mascara in Black.

To finish the look I added Lancôme’s Rich Cashmere lipstick.

This look can definitely be intensified with lining the waterline with more black eyeliner, adding fake lashes and smoking out the blue on the bottom lashes a little more!

What do you guys think? I think this would make a nice (different) party look .

Monthly Favourites – November

This post is a bit late (Thanksgiving threw me off with my posts) but here are my Monthly Favourites – November.

F84 F84 Close

This is my most reached for foundation brush F84 (I have had it for years)! I love how it buffs the foundation into the skins and gives a natural (non streaky) finish. I have a couple of the different ones that are in the same family (F80, F82, F86) and really like using them all but this is my favourite.

Ed Sheeran

I have been listening to Ed Sheeran’s album non-stop since I downloaded it on iTunes. I think it is great. I have also really been enjoying the Hozier album. I downloaded it after hearing the “Take me to Church” song and hearing from a friend that the album was really good.

This Yankee Farmer’s Market candle was a gift and I burned it non-stop in November. It was the perfect scent to get you in the mood for Thanksgiving.

This Cyber Lilac eye shadow is perfect for ladies with green eyes (and everyone else!). It is a pretty shimmer purple colour and I have really enjoyed wearing it lately.

Newbury Front Newbury Back

These Newbury boots have rave reviews online and I decided to order a pair and see how I liked them. I choose the grey pair with the piping because I have a black bootie that is very similar in shape and so wanted something a bit different. These were also on sale (I got them on shopbop during their cyber Monday sale – which lasted a few days) for over 50% off! They are made of Nubuck and are so soft and comfortable! I see why they have such great reviews!

Finally, my last favourite is an item I have had for years! My husband and I got a juicer (sharper image – not sure the model) a few years ago as an engagement present from his parents. We both love juicing but hadn’t pulled it out for a few months….well that changed in November and we have been using it constantly!

I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving with friends and family! I cant believe it is already December. This year has gone by so fast.

Favourite Concealers

Concealers Starring……

All Concealers

Following on from my previous beauty post on my favourite foundations I thought one on concealers would be good! Concealer is good for covering up what still shows after foundation. Here are a few of the ones I reach for the most.

 Rimmel Instant Age Rewind Eraser

I have these in 2 colours (light and brightener). I only use the brightener under my eyes but the one in light I use under my eyes and on blemishes (mainly under my eyes – only on blemishes when I am lazy and don’t grab for another concealer!) Both of these are great! They are very pigmented, feel light on the skin and are blendable. I also find that neither of them settle into any lines around the eye area and they stay on all day. Another great factor is the price!

They retail for anywhere between $7.49 and $9.99.

Double Wear Stay-in-Place Flawless Concealer

I use this concealer on both dark under eye circles and blemishes. This stuff stays put and lasts all day (it is even hard to get off your hands)! It is very creamy, blendable and does not settle into any lines. It is a high coverage concealer yet gives a natural finish and does not look cakey at all. It is a little pricier but definitely worth it.

It retails for $24 (mine was from a free gift and so has a lip gloss on the other end).

Graftobian Hi-Def Glamour Crème Corrector Palette

This palette comes with 5 different colour concealers (soft Orange – blue neutralizer, Yellow Hi-Lite – cancels deep red/purple, Muted Green – removes redness, Pink Hi-Lite – counteracts grey/brown, and Extra Hi-Lite – a light highlighter). I find that using this really brightens the under eye area; I use the yellow followed by the pink. You must set these otherwise I do find that they can settle into lines around the eye area. These colours can be used on any other area of the face that needs coverage but for some you would want to put a foundation over the top so they do not show. This palette does need to be ordered online and comes in many different shades.

It retails for $26.99

M.A.C Studio Finish Concealer

This is a concealer I only use on blemishes or extra redness. I would not use it under the eyes as it is too think and will settle. This product is very pigmented and creamy. It does a great job of concealing and also lasting all day (it must be set with a powder). One of the only downsides of this is the packaging. Since I do not want to stick my finger in the product and get germs in it I use the end of one of my thin brushes or a spatula. However, even with this it is still a great product! I use 2 different colours and make my own perfect shade.

*I would not recommend this if you are planning on taking pictures since the high SPF may cause flashback

They retail for $19 each.

M.A.C Pro Longwear Concealer

Mac pro

This product is good for both under the eye and on blemishes. Not only is it very pigmented and long wearing but it doesn’t settle into any lines! This is just an over all great concealer with only one drawback and that is the dreaded pump that comes with it. You can learn to master the pump and somewhat control how much comes out after using it for a while but at the beginning you just end up wasting so much product!

I like this concealer so much that I just ran out and so the picture is taken from M.A.C.

It retails for $20

What are some of your favourite concealers?

Lots of love,

Buffy x

P.S. Sorry for the grainy pictures here!
