A Taste of India

You do not see as many Indian restaurants in Georgia as you do England, but we do have one in Athens that is really good and does a GREAT lunch Buffet. A Taste of India does a lunch buffet from 11:30-2:30 Monday through Friday (12-3 Saturday & Sunday) that is one of my husband and I’s favourite place to go! It is not a huge buffet, it has about 4 different dishes, plus rice, naan, pakora and a salad bar, but the taste of the food is top notch and you do not really need any more options.

My husband and I decided to go there for a lunch a few days ago. We were having a late lunch and so we missed the lunch crowd and were the only ones in there. Just like the countless other times we have been there it did not disappoint. During Football season they lay the tables with UGA colours – red and black. The rest of the space is decorated with large elephants and pretty framed tapestries.

I had rice with chicken curry, vegetable pakora (fried vegetable fritters), dal makhani (lentils), and naan bread. It was all very delicious. They change up the dishes daily so you never know what you are going to get but I have never had anything there I did not like.

Naan Bread

They also surprised us with some gulab jamun for dessert. Gulab Jamun is a milk dumpling that is soaked in rose flavoured sugar syrup. This is my husband’s favourite dessert there and again, like usual, it was great!

I kept it casual and comfortable and wore leggings. See more below:

I love these shoes because not only are they comfortable but they also give a “pop” to an outfit! The Zara leggings, as you can see from my other posts, are some of my favorites because they are a super thick, stretchy material. Lastly, I love Truly, Madly, Deeply tees because they are the perfect length to wear with leggings.

Online Window Shopping

currently Coveting 2 Use this

There have been so many friends and family sales this week so I have been doing a lot of online window shopping! Here are a few things that caught my eye. I love Diptyque candles and think this one would be great for Autumn. It has a unique woodsy scent that is both masculine and feminine (I love their 34 solid perfume which is also woodsy and androgynous). I have had my eye on this ring for a while. I love it! It is a Herkimer diamond and I think it is so different. The designer also makes one with a Tourmaline crystal, which is also stunning. I can’t decide which one I like more. If you are into crystals any you would love this piece and many of her others. These boots looks so comfy and timeless. I love the zip up the back. They would look great with both jeans and skirts. I love stripes and think this dress would be great for not only summer but also Autumn. Just add a wide brim fedora, tights and some boots! This jumper also would be great for the cooler months and I love the stars on it! I have a couple of piece of Julie Vos jewelry and think these bangles would be great pieces to add to my collection. I think the detail is beautiful on them. Lastly, I like the print on this skirt and think the matching top would be fun to pair with it but also a simple black tee.

Did you guys find any good sales this week?

Dinner at The National

photo 8

My mum has been over visiting from England and has been staying with me for the past few days. For her last night in Athens we decided to head on over to the National for some dinner. The National is a great restaurant in Athens that not only has great food but a great ambience.

Their bread is really good!

Their bread is really good!

We started off with some stuffed Medjool dates (my husbands favourite), Boquerones (Anchovies) and Hummus! After this my mum and I shared the Plum Salad and Cod special and my husband had the Pork Chop. It was all delicious! For dessert we all shared the Chocolate Torte.

I would definitely recommend checking out the National if you are in town!

I kept my visit there casual and just wore jeans, a top, boots (these boots are so comfy – I walked all over London in them with no problem!) and a blazer. To see more check out the pictures and info below.

Liz Earle – Part Two

Post 2 Starter

The last Liz Earle post I talked about my favourite everyday products that I use. Here I am going to talk about some products that I still love but do not use every day. I’m going to jump right in.

Superskin Concentrate (1 fl. oz $79.90/£40.50, 0.3 fl. oz $39.90/£20 and 0.06 fl. oz $11.90/£6)

Superskin closed

Superskin open

This a blend of 100% plant oils that contains argan and rosehip oil, neroli, lavender, chamomile and vitamin E. I got this as a bonus piece when I placed an order a while ago (who doesn’t love a bonus piece?!). I also received the 0.3 fl oz roller ball and at night, after toning, I roll some on to my fingertips to warm it up then rub it all over my skin. I like the smell of this product but I feel it could go either way for people. It smells of – I have no idea what it smells like….

I don’t use this every day but just when I feel my skin is going a bit crazy since I find it helps calm it. I do find that over time it has helped with scarring from spots/acne. It is on the pricy side but definitely worth it, and you don’t have to use it everyday so it lasts! Since I am nearly out of the roller ball I ordered the 0.06 fl oz vial of it. It comes in a pump, rollerball or vial.

Brightening Mask (1.6 fl. oz tube/pump $22.50 or £14)

Brightening Mask

This brightening mask contains camphor oil, witch hazel, aloe vera and white clay. I decided to try this mask after having used the first 3 products for a couple of years. I use this mask when my skin is feeling particularly dull and lifeless. I love it because it gives my skin radiance and just takes 3 minutes! I apply it to my face and use the muslin cloth to remove it. It has a pump which means you get just the right amount of product out however just be careful the pump is not blocked in any way because they the product will shoot out everywhere when you push down on it. This product does also come in a tube for the same price if you prefer.

Mask Pump

Deep Cleansing Mask (2.5 oz tube with 2 sponges $24/£14.50)

Clay Mask

This deep cleansing mask does a great job of drawing out all the skins impurities and leaving the skin clean and fresh. It contains Manuka honey, green clay and propolis & rose scented geranium. I like to use it when my skin breaks out because I feel it helps calm it down and ease the breakout. You can also use this mask as a spot treatment. When using it all over my face I apply it with my fingers, leave it for 10 minutes and then use the sponges it comes with to wipe away the product.

I use either of these masks about once every 1-2 weeks (use can use them more) depending on my skin but I then follow it with the skin tonic and moisturiser.

Please check out my other post HERE (another Liz Earle Review) to get more information on where you can buy these products and many others.

Let me know what you all think? Have you tried any of these? or any of her other products?

Liz Earle – Part One

Post 1 Top

Liz Earle is a British Skincare Brand that was founded back in 1995 and uses naturally active ingredients. I received a starter pack (hot cloth cleaner, toner and moisturiser) as a Christmas gift from some family friends and have been using it ever since; that was about 5 years ago now! The products are gentle on the skin and make it feel so nice and refreshed. I use a lot of their products and so have split this post into 2– see my everyday favorites below!

Hot Cloth Cleanser (3.3 fl. oz $21.50/£13.25 and 6.7 fl. oz $40//£24.75)

Hot Cloth Cleanser

This is probably my favourite product out of the bunch and one that has won multiple awards (CEW Beauty Award winners in Best Classic Beauty Product and Elle’s Readers Choice to name a few) It is a creamy cleanser that does not foam up.

The idea is you apply it to your face while dry and then you take the muslin cloth and wet it with hot water and massage the cleanser off of your face. The eucalyptus and cocoa butter makes this cleanser feels so nice and soft on the skin and does a great job of taking off all of your makeup as well as dirt and any other build up from the day (gross I know!).

I’m not sure if you are meant to do this but sometimes when I am lazy and don’t want to use eye makeup remover I also put it over my eyes and use the cloth to gently remove my eye makeup. It works great and never irritates them! I also love that the cloth helps exfoliate the skin! After my skins feels clean and soft to the touch with no greasy residue left over.

Instant Boost Skin Tonic (6.7 fl. oz bottle $23.90/£13.25 and 6.7 fl. oz spritzer $24.90/£13.50)

This is a floral scented toner that is alcohol free and gentle on the skin. It contains aloe vera, calendula, chamomile, cucumber and vitamin E. I use it right after the hot cloth cleanser with a cotton pad and it does a great job of removing any makeup or grim the cleanser did not (not usually any grim left). It also leaves my skin feeling really refreshed, radiant and hydrated. This product comes in a bottle of a spritzer.

Skin Repair Moisturiser – Normal-combo skin (1.6 oz $39.90/£19.25)

This is a very light moisturiser that contains borage and avocado oils. I use mine as my nighttime moisturizer and I love it because it leaves my skin feeling moisturised yet not greasy in any way. It does not clog my pores but just smooths my skin and leaves it feeling really soft. They also make one for dry skin so you have the option depending on what is best for your skin type. This product comes in a jar or a tube (mine is a jar and I love it because I can get every drop out).

Those are a few of my everyday favourite products (too many for one post!) As I said at the start I have used these products for many years now and have been through countless bottles and jars of each product.

I cannot rave about them more and think they are definitely worth a try and worthy of the awards they have won! I think the products are reasonable prices and worth it. I have noticed a big difference in my skin since using then and plan to keep on using them. They are carried a stand along stores in England as well as John Lewis. In American you can order them off of their USA website ( and they have free shipping at the moment! I love me some free shipping! They have some great starter kits to try for a little bit less than ordering everything separate if you are interested in trying their products.

Check back next week for the 2nd part of this post. I will be talking about some of the masks from this line that I love.

Flashback Friday – Trip to Akyaka, Turkey!

As we move in to October and the summer months are behind us I like to think back to summer holidays and remember the fun trips I took. Here are a few photos from last summer when my sister and I took a trip to Akyaka, Turkey. You met my sister earlier this week in a guest post. You can read that here!

Akyaka is right on the coast with mountains in the background and also a popular destination for kite surfing (not that either of us do that).

Here are some pictures from the trip:

We stayed at the Ottoman Residence, which was sort of like a big house, that had a huge open area when you walked in and then the rooms were off of that.

Our room

Our room

The upstairs had 2 twin beds but we ended up sleeping downstairs on the pull out sofa because the upstairs was too hot the first night (the AC was broken). We just ended up sleeping downstairs the whole time.

The Beach

The Beach

The beach was just a short 10 minute walk away.

One of my favourite parts of the trip was taking a boat out for the day. It was a mix between sailing and anchoring down in coves and jumping off the boat to swim. One of the final stops was Cleopatra’s Island where the water was crystal clear and so warm. You are actually required to shower before leaving the island because the sand is protected (you are also not allowed beach bags or towels on the beach)! There is a lot of myth and mystery behind the sand because there is none other like it in Turkey – each grain is a perfect sphere made from seashells. Legend says that Cleopatra’s lover, Marc Anthony, brought the sand over from Egypt to the island as a gift for her.

I wish I had more pictures because this last one does not do it justice. It is so beautiful there.

The hotel was also by a stream (with the clearest water I have ever seen) that you could walk along as you went into town.

You never really knew what you were going to get food wise at the hotel as sometimes we would order the same thing but get different things?? but it was all still good! We also found restaurants in the town to eat at that were good!

we also got fish pedicures!

It was a great trip!

“Love the Way You Look”

So as my first post on Buffy’s blog as her ‘ghost blogger’ I thought I would jump right in with a little something about makeup! Before that though, you should realize that there are some BIG differences between us (I mean obviously I got the looks, the brains, the talent etc etc) but Buffy has the true talent and eye for style, fashion and makeup. So my point (and I do have one) is that this post is directed at those who wear makeup on occasion, so want something a little lighter on the skin, and easier on the bank account! Right, here we go!! My favorite makeup that I have ever used, and now the only one I use, is Flower Beauty by Drew Barrymore. My favorite products are the ones shown below. All

Foundation, Lip gloss – Lovely Lotus, BB Cream, Eye Shadow – Foxy Browns (Above), Blush & Bronzer – Beachy Keen (Below) and Powder Foundation.

Foundation & BB

The Foundation ($13.98) is super light on the skin and allows your face to breathe, because nothing in worse than they feeling of clogged pores! A little bit goes a long way coverage wise, and its best used to just even the skin tone.

The BB Cream ($12.98) is slightly thicker, with a stronger color (more of a cover up). Again, only a small amount is needed for the whole face (massage lightly with fingers). This is also a lifesaver to eliminate the dreaded ‘shiny face syndrome’!! Powder This, the powder foundation ($9.98), is brilliant for a quick cover in the morning before rushing to lectures (life of a Uni student!). With vitamins C & E to reduce aging it feels great and light weight on the skin all day (even after a touch up). Blush&Bronze The blush and bronze duo ($9.98) is a must have! A quick swipe of each can transform a quiet day look, into a more intense evening look. As usual with Flower Beauty products, its fantastically light, yet stays put! Eye This eye shadow palette ($9.98) (one of my many) is the one I use all the time. The pink and grey are colors that are gentle enough to use in the day, with the bronze and brown just enough to darken the look for a night out!! A Ginko Biloba extract makes it soft and supple on the eye preventing a horrible build up in the creases of your eyelids.

Now for the real showstopper! Mascara This mascara ($7.98) is a genius invention. With its three different brush adjustments you really can transform a look completely; from a classic, simple look, to a hugely transformed, volumised look!

Classic Simple Look

More Bold

Hugely Volumised Look

Hugely Volumised Look

With D-panthenol to smooth lashes and stimulate growth, your lashes do honestly feel stronger, and rice wax for smudge-proof color, you can’t go wrong! A twist of the top, transforms the brush! Lipgloss To finish off a simply necessary lip gloss ($6.98); this adds that needed pop of color to complete a look! Its soft feel doesn’t dry your lips out, and the color lasts (meaning no need to constantly reapply!).

This brand is affordable; all advertising is done by Drew herself, meaning copious amounts of money aren’t spent on campaigns. Probably one of my favorite things about Flower Beauty is that there is NO animal testing whatsoever. Its easy to get a hold of, most drug stores carry it, Walmart in particular. I love it so much Buffy has to send it all the way to the UK!!

Hope you have enjoyed this post, let us know!!

Lots of Love,

Catherine xx (doesn’t have the same ring, does it?!)
