Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner

A couple of months ago I stopped by Lush to check out some of the products and the one that stood out the most to me was Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner. I tried it in the store and drove home loving the smell and the way my skin felt. Fast forward to yesterday when I stopped by Lush again and was treated to a pot by my Mum!

The featured ingredient in this body conditioner is Argan oil but it is also packed with cocoa butter, cupuacu butter and almond oil. On top of that the delightful scent is that of fresh rose petals.

I love this stuff! It leaves your skin feeling so soft and hydrated and the rose smell is amazing and lasts all day. I also find that it a lot more convenient than lotion. The idea is that you use this in the shower after a body wash and then rinse it off and it takes the place of using a lotion after showering. A little bit of this goes a long way and does not leave your skin feeling greasy in any way. Another bonus is that it is made with all natural and safe ingredients.

The only down side for me is the price. It is quite expensive at $32.95 a pot (240g) however; some people may not be a fan of the packaging.

Overall, I would definitely recommend giving this product a go!

Kimball House & Garth Brooks

Friday night we had tickets to Garth Brooks! Exciting Stuff! Since we were heading to the 10:30pm show, my husband and I decided we would head up to Atlanta early and have dinner before.Driving

We went with a group of Friends and one of them recommended the Kimball House in Decauter. This was such a cool building, that was once a railway station, and has now been turned into a restaurant. They apparently tried to salvage as much as possible from the old building and this is obvious in the decor  – just check out the fans that are all linked to each other!

The restaurant was not very big but it definitely had a lot of character. I loved the ladder at the bar!

We started off at the bar – we took a look at the menu and all ordered some drinks. We were not there but a few minutes before they took us to our table! It was not a long wait at all considering they do not take reservations.

Their cocktail menu was pretty impressive! I started off with the Scurvy Dodger and have to say I think it was my favourite drink of the night! My friend started off with the New Tokyo and it was also very good! I loved that instead of pieces of ice it had one huge block!

The table then ordered some starters – the first was a dozen oysters. The server reccommeneded the Marin Miyagi and Island Creek and everyone said they were some of the best they had ever had (the server did inform us that they were flown in first thing that morning!). I am not an oyster fan so I will take their word for it.

Oysters were followed by Onion Rings (some of the best tempura I have had), Lettuce Wraps and Whipped Lardo – all very good!

More drinks were ordered…I had a Pimms Cup…again very tasty!

My friend and I shared the Black Cod and the Chicken Roulade (I forgot to take pictures) and the guys had steak.

We finished off our meals and then headed to the concert!

My favourite part of the restaurant was definitely the ambience and drinks (don’t get me wrong the food was great I just think they other two knocked it out of the park).

I would love to try this place again as the menu changes daily!

Garth Brooks didn’t end up starting till 11:30 but it was a great show. His wife, Trisha Yearwood, also came out and sang a couple of her songs

We did not get done until 2:30 am! I have never seen that part of Atlanta so packed with people – even after all the other shows we have been to there!

All in all it was a great night with great company!

Downtown Athens Drinks

After working a lot over the past few weeks I decided I needed to take a break and
be a bit social. A friend and I headed downtown to grab a few drinks and have a good chinwag! We started our night at the Branded Butcher since they have my favourite cocktail – the Mexican firing Squad!

Firing Squad

We caught up and discussed wedding plans (she is getting married soon) while enjoying our drinks. They have a bunch of other good cocktails to try as well. The velvet Elvis is another great one!

Once we finished we decided we would try Five Bar since she had said they had some good drinks to try and also that the décor was worth a look. It is only a 2-3 minute walk away and so we made our way down the hill. Sadly, when will got there they were just closing up and so we have made plans to try there again (on a weekend night when they stay open a bit later).

To end the night (it was still pretty early but we both had busy days the next day – Music Midtown and Garth Brooks) we headed to Pauley’s for one last drink! Here we each had Deep Eddy’s, soda water and lime!

It was a short night but so nice to get out!

We forgot to take a full length picture of the both of us but we did get a #whatisee photo.

Knee High Boots

It is finally here….boot weather!!

I’m very excited it has started to cool down. I always look forward to the changing seasons and especially Autumn because it is a chance to start to bundle up after the hot summer months. You also start to see an abundance of different textures in clothing such as leather, wool, and tweed. I have been especially looking forward to breaking out my new Gypsy knee high boots that I picked up a few months ago for a ridiculously discounted price after eyeing them for several months! They are just the right height and very comfortable. I opted for the suede version because I thought they were a little bit softer (not so severe) and less in your face than the leather version (even thought the leather version and these from a previous post are stunning). I think you have to be careful when wearing knee high boots that you do not cross the line of being inappropriate (unless that is what you are going for??). I can’t wait to wear these with jeans and a leather jacket when it cools down even more.

Mini Makeup Haul

I have never been the biggest fan of lipstick but after discovering and loving Lancôme’s Rouge in Love lipsticks I decided I wanted to branch out and try some different types. So with Autumn on its way and the heat finally subsiding I opted for something darker! I had had my eye on the Red Ego from the Envy collection from Estee Lauder but at the last minute changed my mind and went with something with a little bit more plum in it – Insolent Plum from the same Estee Lauder Envy collection. I had also previously been eying Grandest Grape by Clinique but felt Insolent plum would be more pigmented and have better lasting power. With it I also picked up the Estee Lauder Double Wear lip liner in Current, a perfect colour to go underneath the lipstick, as well as Lancôme’s Midnight Rose blush.

Box Names

The blush looks kind of scary but it is really pretty on and you only need a tiny bit because of how pigmented it is.

Here are some swatches.

A Few of my Favourite Things…

PowderPerfumeLipstickLip BalmCoin Pendant

Arrowhead PendantEye Shadow Stick

These are my two go to long necklaces; I love the length of the coin pendant and the edginess of the arrowhead pendant. The MAC Studio Fix powder is the powder I reach for on a daily basis. I use it both as a setting powder and a stand alone foundation since it has great coverage and staying power. Diptyque “34” is a great woodsy fragrance as we head into autumn and the packaging is amazing – great for traveling and sticking in your purse! I also love this lip balm from Diptyque as it is really moisturizing. The Rouge in Love lipsticks are amazing and last all day; I love the color 375 – a bright fuchsia. I have my eye on Red Ego from the Envy lipstick collection by Estee Lauder as well as Grandest Grape by Clinique as we move into the cooler months. Red Ego is a really pretty berry red colour and Grandest Grape is pretty plum colour. Lastly, I love the Laura Mercier Caviar sticks! These eye shadow sticks last all day and do not crease. The Amethyst is a great purplish colour to try – great for green eyes!

The Last Resort

The Last Resort has to be one of my favourite lunches in town and so that is where I headed on my day off! It is a quaint little restaurant at the end of Clayton Street in Downtown Athens but has a lot of character and is always busy! Good luck getting a table in under an hour on a weekend night (it is definitely worth the wait)!

Lunch Menu

I started off with the a cup of the tomato bisque from their specials

And followed it with their fried green tomato sandwich with house made Vidalia bacon dressing!

Open Sandwich

It was delicious! I cannot recommend it enough.

As I am writing this I am wondering how many tomato’s I ate during lunch!

The Last Resort has a great selection of desserts (cheesecakes and layer cakes) but sadly we were all too full to try one. I have had them in the past I can definitely say the red velvet cake, carrot cake, and white chocolate cheesecake are all worth a try!

Dinner with Friends

I met some friends for dinner the other night and since I was rushing from work I had to change into something quick and easy. I love this Joie dress (Bloomingdales have some on sale right now). The colour is gorgeous and on top of that it is so comfortable. I threw it on with black DVF wedges (great find at Nordstrom – they were hugely discounted) and a black Zara blazer. I’m looking forward to trading in my wedges for boots when it starts to cool down! Lastly, I grabbed my small Tory Burch bag before I ran out the door. This bag is great because it can be used as a clutch or a long shoulder bag – there is a long gold chain strap that can be hidden in the bag when used as a clutch. The leather is also buttery soft!

Red Lips!

I am coming at you with a makeup look today and this is the first one on my blog so I hope you enjoy! I wore this look when I went to watch the Bulldogs play downtown and since UGA’s colours are red and black I went for a bold red look (also very classic!).

Red Lip Look 1

Below are all the steps and products I used so keep on reading if you want to see how to get the look.

First, all the brushes I used to achieve the look:

(L-R) Sigma F82 Round Kabuki Brush –  Sephora Pro Airbrush Concealer Brush #57 – MAC 168 Large angeled contour Brush – Sigma F30 Large Powder Brush – Real Techniques Setting Brush – Blush Brush – Sephora Pro Shadow Brush #14 – MAC 217 Blending Brush – MAC 316 Lip brush – MAC 266 Small Angle Brush

After washing my face and applying my serums and moisturizer I primed my face with the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer using the Sigma F82 Brush. This was to ensure my foundation lasted all day!

After this I applied foundation using the same F82 brush. For foundation I used the Chanel Vitalumière Aqua as it is one of my favourites and gives a great finish (see more about my favourite foundations here). For under the eyes I used the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer in Brightener; I drew 2 triangles under my eyes to not only cover dark circles but to help contour the face. I then used my MAC Studio Finish SPF 35 Concealer (would not recommend if you are going to be taking pictures with flash because of the high SPF) to cover any extra redness or blemishes and for both of these steps I used the Sephora Pro Airbrush Concealer Brush.

To ensure this all stayed in place I set it with Studio Fix Powder (Sigma F30 Brush) on my face and Benefits Powderflage (Real Techniques Setting Brush) under the eyes.Setting

To add some depth to my face I used the MAC 166 angled brush to contour with Too Faced’s Chocolate Soleil bronzer. I do an E and a 3 on the face. I contour by the top of the hairline on either side of the face and then bring it down by the temples and then into the hollows of my cheek/cheekbones. Lastly I bring it down onto the jawbone on either side (this creates and E on one side and a 3 on the other side). Make sure this is all blended well so there are no harsh lines!

Bronzer:Blush Open

I added a little bit of blush to the apples of my cheeks using the blush brush. Since I am doing a red lip I went with a slightly red tone blush; I chose MAC’s Pinch Me.

The next step was to fill in my brows and for this I used the MAC Charcoal Brown eye shadow and 266 brush.

Moving on to eyes! I primed them with Too Faced’s Shadow Insurance Primer and then decided to use Lancome’s Chocolate Amande Eye Shadow Palette. It has some really pretty gold’ and browns in it. I covered my entire lid with the shadow all the way to the right in the middle row (see close up picture) using the Sephora Pro Shadow Brush. I made sure this was blended out well using a MAC 217 brush and then using a clean MAC 217 Brush I applied the shade to the left of it into the socket and down slight along the lash line (creating a sideways V Shape).

I curled my lashes, added some Lancome Cils Booster and then used Tarte’s Lights, Camera, Flashes Mascara on them.

The last step was the lips. I lined and filled them with the MAC Redd Lip Liner and went over this with MAC’s Russian Red and a little bit of Ruby Woo using a MAC 316 lip brush. I used a little bit of Revlon’s Super Lustrous Lipgloss in ‘Kiss Me Coral’ to add some shine!

Here is the final look!

Final Red Lip Look

This may sound like a lot but this is a relatively quick and easy look that can be played up by making the eyes more smoky and/or adding liner and fake lashes!

What do you think?

Brunch Date

Game days in Athens are pretty crazy! The town starts filling up Thursday and is packed by Saturday; old Georgia Alumni, parents, Dawg fans and the opposing teams fans all come in to watch the game and/or experience downtown Athens. I will say it is one of the best times to people watch if that is something you are in to (this is definitely a guilty pleasure of mine – not a stalker). Anyway, on Sunday, after a long busy weekend my husband and I popped into the Branded Butcher for some brunch.

Branded Butcher

They have my all time favourite burger on their brunch menu!

Butcher Burger

Seriously, it is amazing!

All gone

And all gone!

We sat at the bar and both enjoyed burgers as well as seeing lots of friends who were back in town for the game! I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend. Sadly, I will be working (sometimes you really can’t have it all!).

Boss was ready for Gameday!

See what I wore below:

Tory Burch Flats (great time to buy as they are having a Labor Day Sale) – Longchamp Le Pliage Bag in small – Express Jean Leggings – Greylin Faux Leather Top – Chloe & Isabel Gold Leaf Earrings
