All Things Diptyque

I have read a lot about how amazing the Diptyque candles are in the past few months and finally broke down and bought one. I decided on the BIAES one and think it is really nice. You can definitely tell the difference between these candles and others. They just give out so much fragrance! This one, according to Diptyque, smells of a “bouquet of roses and black currant leaves” which I think is spot on.

While ordering it I also snuck a solid perfume into my online shopping cart to try :).

Closed perfume

It’s called ‘34’. If you have read my earlier post about perfume you may know that I rarely get new fragrances but lately I have been trying to expand on the types that I like (hence the COCO Mademoiselle). Well, this solid perfume is wonderful and SOO different from anything I have.

Open perfume

Diptyque describes it as the scent of their first boutique on 34 Boulevard Saint Germain. It boasts “Fresh, green and spicy accords. Damp mosses, crumpled blackcurrant leaves, sun-dried fig leaves” and is neither masculine nor feminine. It is possibly my new favourite scent and the packaging is very good quality!

Have any of you tried any of their other scents? I want to try the L’ombre dans l’eau next.

New Fragrance?

Hi Everybody

In the past I was not one to really branch out from the fragrances that I already had (I have a couple) however, I did try the COCO Mademoiselle the other day and LOVED it! I decided to get the Twist and Spray Eau de Parfum because I thought it would be nice for carrying around in my bag and for when I travel. I also noticed that for an extra $2 you got 10ml more than if you bought it in the regular bottle (last years prices – i think they went up in 2014)!

Mademoiselle on its own

A couple weeks after buying the fragrance I went back and got the Velvet body oil to layer with it. This just helps with the lasting power and feels really good on the skin.

This shows the extra cylinders you get.

Have you guys tried this perfume? What do you think? I also like their newest one, COCO Noir. Have any of you smelt it?

Hats Galore

Do any of you watch Mad Men? I love this show, especially seeing all the costumes! One thing I really wish that we still wore more of today is hats. I am a huge hat fan and I love how back in the day women had hats to go with each outfits. For winter I am loving felt hats. I have 2 that are very similar but just have a slightly different shape.

Hat 1 – more structured

Hat 1 again

Hat 2 – more floppy

Hat 2 again

I hope you guys can see the different shapes in these photos.

What do you guys think? What hats are you loving?

Lots of love,

P.S. I also just got this sign. I thought it was cute because I definitely feel like that sometimes.

Lights, Lights and more Lights!

Following my recent post on lamps (last one for a bit I promise!), I wanted to show you all some other lamps I got; one set for Christmas and the other a month or so before.

The lamps I got for Christmas I plan to put in the spare room.

I don’t have any lampshades for them yet but I have my eye on these from target.

Silver shade

I think the black/silver will go very well with the room as the room is white with different grey accents!

The other set of lamps that I got before Christmas are for the master bedroom.

Master light

I got these incredible glass-base lamps when Target was having a 30% off sale on home decor items. I love how the glass helps lighten the room even further.

I’ve been a bit obsessed with lamps recently, but I just love how something so basic can make a huge difference to a room!

I have decided to start occasionally posting OOTD on here and just number them from 1 onwards. Here is the 1st one. Hope you guys enjoy!

My husband and I went out to eat at his restaurant for dinner the other night and I posted an OOTD on Instagram. Here I thought I would just give you more details on the outfit.

Jewelry Storage

Hello again!

Not sure if you’ve seen my shoe storage post, but I have followed the same principle with my jewelry. I love being able to see all my different pieces so I don’t forget about any (or over wear others).

Personally I use three different methods of displaying my more statement pieces.

The first one I saw whilst I was on Pinterest. I saw that someone had used a towel rod and shower curtain hooks! This is how mine came out:

I found this black iron rod Fleur de Lis towel holder while I was at Hobby Lobby and loved it because it isn’t your classic towel rod! I also found a 40% off coupon on my phone and got it for a great price, isn’t the detail amazing? Trying to find black shower curtain hooks is a lot harder than you think, so after a lot of searching I got these (almost black) from Lowes. Very handy the way they open and close, what do you think?

The second storage idea is a mannequin that I found at TJ Maxx Homegoods.

Although somewhat creepy at first (according to my husband who now just hides it in rooms for me to find!!), I now love the feel it brings to a room. This is a good idea for heavier/chunkier necklaces etc. so that they don’t weigh down on the wall (see above). It is also great for belts and hats!

The last one is a really easy way to store long and dangly earrings. I found a frame I liked (Hobby Lobby again) and bought some chicken wire (Lowes again). Just cut the chicken wire to match the width of the back of the frame and glued it on (I used paper to help keep the wire down). Then I just hang the frame on the wall, and started placing earrings on, easy!

Let me know what works best for you guys!

Shoe Storage Idea

For the past few years (since I can remember to be honest), I have always stored my shoes in the boxes that they come in. Although this keeps the shoes in good condition, it does take up a lot of room which isn’t ideal if you don’t have a huge amount of storage space (like me, wouldn’t we all love a walk in wardrobe?!).

Recently I decided that it would be easier for me to display them so that I can see all of them at once. This means that no shoe gets forgotten (can help if you are trying not to spend and save money!). I did some research and I think the best and most affordable solution is a Billy Bookcase from Ikea!

The bookcase was $79.99, not a bad price if you ask me! There is a white one which is cheaper, but the darker wood accents the master bedroom for me. I did screw mine to the wall to make it even more sturdy, and I also added glass doors for even more convenient storage, what do you guys think?

For those of you worrying about assembly, I put this all together myself (my husband thought it was crazy I wanted shoes in a bookcase), and managed just fine!
